Tuscany – a region in central Italy known for its landscapes, traditions, history and artistic legacy – is the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance and a paradise for those who love living the good life.

We’ll be spending seven fabulous nights at Le Pianore, an IMC-certified organic farmstead tucked away in the Tuscan hills.

It’s a private, sustainable haven nestled between medieval hilltop towns and surrounded by woodlands, vineyards, olive groves, and mountain streams. Boasting breathtaking views for miles, awesome sunsets, and no neighbors in sight, this is an incredible place to relax and rejuvenate your body, mind, and spirit.

Featuring a lovely swimming pool with panoramic views of lush Italian countryside, it’ll be easy to get lost in the spectacle of it all. If you can pry yourself off your lounge chair to explore the property (and you should!), you’ll meander through lush gardens of mulberry and cherry trees. If you long to go even further, you’re just a short distance to neighboring villages that boast some of the most pristine cityscapes and countryside in the entire country. Lucky you!

Le Pianore offers exquisite home-style accommodations set in an 800-year-old villa that has been beautifully restored and rejuvenated. La Pianore’s rooms are brimming with character and vintage furniture (not to mention extraordinary views). Each room is distinctive and hallmarked by the rustic charm unique to the magic of Tuscany.

You can’t come to Tuscany and not have adventures! Tuscany is an amazing base to explore the Renaissance hill town of Montepulciano that sits high on a limestone ridge and boasts vast panoramas over the Val d’Orcin and Val di Chiana valleys that surround it.  The charming village of Pienza is also a must visit!  Known for its Pecorino di Pienza – a delicious cheese made from sheep’s milk that has a delicate to strong flavor depending on its age – it’s renowned worldwide.

Be prepared to open your pores (and feel your stress and tension melt away) at the local natural thermal hot springs. Legend has it that the Saturnia Thermal Springs were born in the exact point where Jupiter’s thunderbolt fell in a battle against Saturn! While the creation date of these amazing hot springs can’t be proven, immersing yourself in the healing 99.5 degrees water is sure to provide a welcome respite at the end of a long day spent exploring the area.

If serenity is what you are craving, bike, walk, or travel by horseback through the rolling hills, vineyards, and woodlands on Le Pianore’s 123 secluded acres.  Are you an early riser? How about seeing a stunning sunrise on the top of the Monte Amiata, a dormant volcano whose last eruptive episode was about 300,000 years ago. Or, perhaps you want to wake up in the morning and meditate or stretch out your body in La Pianore’s yoga shala (which is housed in a centuries old barn).

Lauded around the world for its bold flavors, simple ingredients, and farm-to-table flare, Tuscan cooking is a treasure not to be missed.  Perfect for vegetarians and meat-eaters alike, you’ll be delighted by the vast array of fresh, imaginative meals.  Handmade pastas, local cheeses, and pizzas cooked in a wood-burning stove will fill your plate from the moment you arrive.

Fruits and vegetables from Le Pianore’s expansive gardens will be lovingly served alongside organic extra virgin olive oil and locally-sourced meats. Feeling thirsty?  Bring on the wine!  Made from their own organic vineyard of Merlot and Sangiovese grapes, it’s affectionately called Tiniatus after the Etruscan god who was the ruler of the skies.

Gluten intolerant? Vegetarian? No problem!  Elena (the proprietor of Le Pianore) writes “In our family there are two vegetarians, a delicious sweet tooth, a health-conscious meat lover, and one who is intolerant to dairy, so we know how to meet many different dietary needs!”

About Deborah:

Deborah loves everything there is about dance!  She loves watching dancers perform, giving all of their hearts and soul to the choreography, and she wants you to become the very best coach and trainer you can be by sharing the information she has learned throughout the past 40 years!

It all started when she was a young child.  From the instant her parents enrolled her in classes at a local studio, she was hooked.  The studio quickly became her second home and the students and teachers there her extended family.

When she was 21, she moved to New York City to fulfill her dream of becoming a professional dancer.  While she was there, she had the good fortune to meet Irene Dowd, a neuromuscular specialist who rocked her world!  She quickly began to see the link between what she felt in her body and what was happening anatomically and in technique class.  This was a total game changer!  She ended up joining the practice of one the area’s well-known dance docs – Richard Bachrach, DO – and co-founded the Center for Dance Medicine with him. It was a dream come true to work with both recreational and professional dancers as well as Broadway gypsies and Wall Street businessmen!

These days, Deborah draws on her background as a neuromuscular educator, dance teacher, and “somatic explorer.”  She has a unique ability to study a dancer’s body alignment and movement patterns to identify muscular imbalances.  As a specialist in devising ways dancers can bring their bodies, minds, and spirits back into alignment after stress, strain or injury, Deborah teaches dancers and teachers how to “see and analyze” the body in motion and how to improve its performance.
